Curvy Style Dos and Don’ts

Curvy Style Dos and Don’tsThere are lots of things you can do to make the most of your curvy style, so don’t be intimidated when you shop or put clothing items together from your closet. Here are a few dos and don’ts that will make the process of being fashionable a little easier.

Make sure that you select soft fabrics for your clothing. Cotton or cashmere works great for full figures, since it hugs your curves while still being forgiving. It’s also a good idea to select tops and blouses that accentuate your figure, especially if you’re wearing a flowy skirt or wide-leg pants. Shirts with a V neckline are also flattering for full figures, and make your shoulders look especially demure.

When it comes to pants, straight-cut trousers are best. Choose pants that have a wide leg to make your legs look longer and make your waist more defined. For skirts that should be part of your curvy style, choose a skirt with a high waistline. If you choose flared skirts, make sure they are pleated so you don’t appear too wide. Pencil skirts are always a great choice as well. If you want to wear shirt dresses that flatter your curves, choose dresses with an asymmetrical cut.

There are also certain materials you should avoid when you’re achieving curvy style. Thick fabrics like velvet can make you look larger and make the definition of your shapeless obvious. It’s also a good idea to steer clear of satin. For outerwear, choose single breasted coats and jackets, and make sure there are not ruffles or embellishments in the bust areas of your shirts to give you a more streamlined silhouette.

When you want to wear accessories, scarves are a must-have for adding interest to an outfit and hiding a large chest. However, elaborate brooches and chokers can make your bust bigger. Bangles and cocktail rings are ideal for bringing an outfit together, especially if your outfit is monochromatic.
